Broadband Services

In telecommunications broadband is known as Wide bandwidth data transmits multiple signals and traffic types, whatever could be the medium coaxial cable, optical fiber or a twisted pair. Broadband is higher, faster and efficient medium than dial up access over analog and others. Braodband connection  is a way of communication to the internet which allows the information or content to be carried out at high speed to your multiple devices. Broadband signalling handles wide range of frequencies, broader bandwidth. Today’s Broadband technologies are used in Telecommunications, Computer networks, TV and Video, and some alternative technologies.

Dial up Access

Dial-up Internet access is one of major and well-known means for internet connection which have been used in a way that covers or affects a large area to connect us in to the world of internet via ISP’s. Dial-up is more efficient rather than broadband and it is very comfortably available to every normal user. Internet Access which has been offered by ISP’s through the dial-up medium uses T1 lines or connections to liaise with broadband providers. Dial-up connections to internet require no infrastructure as which are needed by broadband, dial-up needed only telephone network and the modems to make and answer calls. Dial-up is the recurrent choice which are available for rural and remote areas where infrastructure of broadband costs more than Dial-up because of low population and costs.

Mobile Broadband

Mobile Broadband is the term which is used for internet access which is wirelessly delivered from cellular towers to different digital devices using a portable modem.

Ultra Wide Broadband

UWB which is known as Ultra-Wide bandwidth Broadband is a technology which transmits huge amount of digital data over a wide spectrum of frequency bands from a short distance. Ultra Wide Broadband uses different frequencies in different regions of the world.

Wireless Broadband

Wireless broadband is a high speed data and internet service which has been delivered to us through a wireless local area network. Power Lines in Broadband, it is one of the method in power line communication (PLC) which allows the digital data to be transmitted through public electric power distribution wiring with a proportionate high speed.

Digital Receiver (DTV)

Digital Receiver (DTV) is nothing but a set top box which allows the reception of digital television. The DTV tuner or receiver decodes the digital signals incoming, high security levels, the resolution of picture is at cinema quality, Outputs a surround sound , makes life easier with processes of internet on TV. The DTV tuner receives a input signal from various ways via from cable, satellite, or terrestrial, then signal is pushed in to the demodulator to demodulate and convert it in to binary format. Then it will check for the error and forwards the signal in to a demultiplexer which will extract the audio to audio and video to video from the binary stream. If the demultiplexer finishes it’s job then the decoders will transform the digital bits in to format where it can be suitable or better for viewing on TV. DTV Tuner or Digital Receiver (DTV) has the components included as System Board, DTV Tuner, Modulator and Demodulator, Demultiplexer and Decryptor, Decoders, CPU and Memory. Each system has different significance. An advanced Television Systems Committee tuner (ATSC tuner) is handy for accessible for QAM-OFDM and QPSK based networks. Furthermore of receiving inputs from digital networks, maximum of tuners have the capability of tuning analog broadcasts. The tuners are divided in to three categories 1. Broadcast In-Band Tuner 2. Out of Band Tuner. 3. Return path Tuner.

Broadcast In Band Tuner

As signal gets received from Physical Transmission media, the IB tuner segregate from a multiple channels and transforms to baseband. Baseband is nothing but extracts the signal which is a stream of multiple channels.

Out of Band Tuner

These Tuners are generally used in cable set top boxes, where it facilitates the transfer of data b/w head end and set top box.

Return Path Tuner

This tuner allows the subscriber to activate the path return to send back the data. Digital Receiver (DTV) needs a memory same as a computer to store and manage. Graphics engine and video decoder needs a memory to perform various task. Decoders part is to transform the video packets in to chronological pack of pictures which can be displayed by the TV monitor. The graphics processor is used to render the range of files which internet contains. The MPEG-2 technology is used In Digital Reveiver(DTV) to select the packet and decrypt it through the demultiplexer and then it forwards it to a specific decoder.

DVB–C/T/S

The DVB-C set top box is compliant with 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio fully.
